Welcome to Downtown Vancouver
Downtown Vancouver refers to the busy areas of West End, Yaletown, Coal Harbour and the ‘downtown neighbourhood’. One of the more heavily populated and densely stacked areas of Vancouver, Downtown Vancouver has a host of entertainment and restaurant options available for its residents who are on a whole a very open minded group. The busy hub of this commercial part of the city contrasts starkly with the tranquil water this area verges on, creating a beautiful paradoxical living environment. The style of living in Downtown Vancouver neighbourhoods depends largely upon the area that you’re in. Apartment living is common among residents and many people love living in this high city- life area as it means they are walking distance from almost anything at all times. If you like being right in the midst of the hustle and bustle of a city while still enjoying beautiful water views, then Downtown Vancouver is a great place to investigate.
SHOPPING & RESTAURANTS
Downtown Vancouver offers a diverse and dense range of restaurants to its connoisseurs. You’ll find a hub of activity on Denman Street and a leisurely area in Robson Street. Downtown Vancouver will offer you known and trusted restaurant brands as well as unique one-of- a-kind eating places. Treat yourself to dessert at one of the local cafes or go out for an evening with work friends, it’s all nearby! Being the centre of commerce in Vancouver, Downtown Vancouver has enough shops and malls to keep oneself entertained for many a day out. The largest shopping mall in the area is called CF Pacific Centre and boasts a whole host of shopping and eatery places. The Holt Renfrew on the other hand is the largest department store around and in it you’ll find everything from small accessories like shoes through to full formal gowns and suits.
The Downtown Vancouver community is diverse and largely business centred. The streets and sidewalks are busy with people going about their daily lives. Residents are friendly and participate in many community events put on by the district organizers.

With a rising class of young families in Downtown Vancouver, the area is subject to heavy targeting by private schools. Both The Westside School and Pattison High School provide excellent options for parents. There are a range of acceptable public schools to choose from as well. Most people end up choosing a school that is closer to home so that children can walk or take a bus in. Other people prefer boarding schools in surrounding regions of Vancouver which are still within a day’s drive away. Whatever your preferred schooling method for your children, Downtown Vancouver is likely to offer it.
